I am an undergraduate student majoring in Biology: Physiology at the University of Washington, working under the mentorship of Valentina Grillo Alvarado on the role of hexokinase 3 (HK3) in macrophages. My research investigates how the loss of HK3 affects macrophage polarization, glucose uptake, and immune function using THP1 monocytic cells. I am gaining hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology techniques, with the goal of pursuing an MD/PhD after undergrad.
